Microsoft GP Applications Analyst - Downtown Chicago
General Summary
Implements and supports our client's application software systems while ensuring that the needs of our client's business staff are met. Functions as liaison between the IS department and our client's user community. Participates in gathering and documenting functional requirements. Designs, codes / configures, tests, implements and supports existing and future software applications in the healthcare environment. Provides support for existing Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or custom applications currently used by our client. Implements software and enhancements in a timely and cost-effective manner utilizing our client's development methodology as dictated by the Applications Managers. Project manages software implementation and/or software enhancement projects as required.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Support current environment (Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or custom applications).
2. Identify and document business requirements and modified business processes.
3. Translate business requirements into system design, ensuring that systems deliver the desired capabilities to meet the needs of the users.
4. Develop system design specifications taking into consideration the provision of quality patient care, user needs, and potential for cost savings through the reduction of work steps.
5. Write custom code for in-house developed applications and/or configure Microsoft Dynamics GP modules.
6. Develop detailed Unit Test plans, execute tests to verify code developed satisfies design requirements, and update code/configuration based on results.
7. Develop and document System Test and User Acceptance Test plans based on functional specifications.
8. Work with fellow IS staff and users during System Test and User Acceptance Test phases of the development lifecycle. As system bugs are detected, troubleshoot errors, modify code and re-execute test scripts.
9. Plan and perform conversion steps, which include converting current data and monitoring performance of new system functions.
10. As dictated by the Applications Manager, enhance existing applications software to deliver System Change Requests (SCRs) for users.
11. Develop end-user training for applications software as needed.
12. Work with clinical and business representatives after the conclusion of IS projects to measure results of the initiatives.
13. Assist with product selection based on identified business/functional requirements
Other Responsibilities
1. Project manage small-scale software implementation initiatives. Utilize project management framework as defined by IS Management.
2. Serve on appropriate company System Information committees
3. Maintain current knowledge of trends in information systems
4. Provide after-hours on-call service as required to support applications systems
Reporting Relationships
Reports to Applications Development Manager
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
1. Undergraduate degree in information systems (e.g., Computer Science) or degree in clinical care (e.g., RN, PT, OT etc.). Appropriate certifications plus. Work experiences can replace traditional educational requirements.
2. At least four years experience in an Information Systems applications role
3. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with IS peers and user community to effectively deliver systems based on user needs.
4. Analytical skills necessary to analyze business problems and apply technology to resolve issues and/or increase operational efficiency of the patient care process.
5. Ability to pay close attention to details when designing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining system functions.
6. Organizational skills necessary to coordinate the completion of tasks independently as well as with others to meet established deadlines.
7. Personal computer skills necessary to prepare flowcharts, presentations, design specifications, test plans, project plans, etc.
8. Knowledge of rehabilitation healthcare business processes in one or more area
9. Ability to support one or more area of our client's existing system applications, including Cerner, Microsoft Dynamics, reporting, or custom applications.
10. Ability and willingness to learn new tools and Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) to be identified as part of our client's future core applications toolset. Example technologies include new Cerner or Dynamics modules, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft .NET.
11. Knowledge of and experience with applications software lifecycle and software development methodologies.
12. Ability to manage systems implementation projects of varying scale.
13. Experience working within Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office tools.

This position is based in downtown Chicago and requires little-to-no travel.
